BOTOX® is an FDA approved non-surgical treatment that temporarily reduces the appearance of wrinkles. It relaxes the muscles of the face by blocking certain chemical signals from nerves, which cause muscles to contract. Over time, the contraction of these muscles creates fine lines and wrinkles on the overlying skin.
The most common facial muscles to be treated with BOTOX® are the areas around the eyes, forehead, and in between the eyebrows. BOTOX® will temporarily decrease the appearance of these fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, BOTOX® can fix a “gummy smile” and help reduce the discomfort associated with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
